Celebrate the season with Mountain Shadows at our annual Fall Festival! It's a day of fun and community for the whole school. We're gathering at the beautiful Anderson Farms for a morning packed with classic autumn activities. It's the perfect way to make family memories and welcome the season.
Event Highlights Include:
Anderson Farm Favorites: Pumpkin Patch, Corn Maze, and a Petting Zoo!
Family Fun: Wagon Rides, Jump Pads, Gem Mining, Pony Rides, and Escape Rooms.
Getting Creative: Face Painting and a fun photobooth!
For the Foodies: Grab a bite from a variety of Local Vendors.
Entertainment: Enjoy Live Music and watch the exciting Pumpkin Launching!

🎃 Halloween Parade & Monster Mash!

Get ready for a fang-tastic afternoon at our annual Halloween Parade & Monster Mash on Friday, October 30th!
Students from all classrooms, Nido through Adolescent, will come together for a spook-tacular celebration! We'll kick things off with our Halloween Parade at 2:00 PM sharp in the school's front yard, followed by a Monster Mash in the MPR filled with Halloween-themed activities, crafts, games, and treats.
We warmly invite parents, grandparents, family members, and our greater school community to dress up and join the parade! Whether you're a friendly ghost, a favorite book character, or a silly pumpkin, we'd love to see you celebrating alongside our students.
Important Details
👻 Costume Guidelines: No toy weapons, full-face masks, or overly scary costumes, please! With little pumpkins as young as 8 weeks old and many toddlers and young children on campus, we want everyone to feel comfortable and have fun. Even if your child's costume is perfect for trick-or-treating, please choose something friendly and school-appropriate for our celebration. We especially love costumes inspired by favorite book characters!
🎒 Bringing Costumes to School: Children should bring their costumes to school in a bag and will change into them with support from their classroom team before the parade. Please make sure all costume pieces, accessories, and bags are clearly labeled with your child's first and last name.
We also ask that costumes do not include wands, handheld props, or loose accessories that children may drop, misplace, or lose throughout the festivities. With so many children celebrating together, our staff will not be able to keep track of individual costume accessories. The school is not responsible for lost costume items, and staff will not be searching for missing costume pieces.
We encourage families to keep costumes simple, comfortable, and easy for children to move around in. If that means choosing a simplified version of your child's costume for our school parade and saving the full costume, complete with all the fun accessories, for Halloween the following day, please do! Our goal is for children to enjoy the celebration without worrying about managing or losing pieces of their costumes.
🕑 Parade & Monster Mash: Our parade begins promptly at 2:00 PM in the school's front yard. Students from all classrooms will participate before gathering together for our Monster Mash festivities in the MPR. Families and community members are encouraged to come in costume and join the fun!
🍬 Potluck Treats: We welcome Halloween-themed goodies to share! Think "boo"-licious fruit creations, "witches' brew" cupcakes, "ghoulish" brownies, or anything your imagination can dream up. We'll be sending out a potluck sign-up list so families can choose what they'd like to contribute and help us plan a wonderful variety of treats. Please include a complete ingredient list with anything you bring so we can be mindful of food allergies and dietary restrictions. We also ask that you take home any leftovers and trays at the end of the celebration.
🍂 Volunteers Needed: Our Celebrations Circle is looking for helping hands to decorate our campus and MPR, prepare activities, and bring our Monster Mash to life! If you'd like to help, please email Development@mountainshadows.org, and we'll add you to our Celebrations Circle chat to share additional details and volunteer opportunities.

World Children’s Day
Celebrate the joy, potential, and rights of children everywhere with this special tentative event dedicated to our youngest global citizens on Thursday, November 19th, at 2:00 p.m.
Grandfriend’s Day
On Friday, November 20th, during student lunch times, we warmly invite grandparents and special family friends to share a wonderful mealtime experience with their students.
Winter Cookie Decoration Workshop
In this fun workshop led by our Primary staff, children will explore simple decorating techniques to create festive cookie creations with colorful icing, fun toppings, and plenty of imagination. Along the way, they will explore colors, patterns, textures, and creative expression in a playful and supportive environment guided by the nurturing adults they know and love.
This experience is designed to create cozy holiday memories and joyful moments for everybody— we haven't left out the grown-ups! While the little ones decorate their treats we will be putting the finishing touches on our van for the Lights of December parade as a community.
Expect iconic wintry tunes, nostalgic fun, laughter with friends, and adorable photo opportunities that families will treasure long after the cookies are gone.

Boulder Lights of December Parade
Bundle up and join our school community in downtown Boulder on Saturday, December 12th, at 6:00 p.m. to celebrate the magic of the season with sparkling floats and holiday cheer.
Winter Celebration
Ring in the winter season on Friday, December 18th, with a beautiful musical performance by our students before we head off for winter break. To make the show even sweeter, we’ll be hosting our annual cookie exchange!
Earth Day Celebration

Join us for one of Mountain Shadows International Montessori School’s most cherished traditions: International Peace Day.
Peace education is deeply rooted in Montessori philosophy. Each year, our entire community comes together to celebrate peace, belonging, global citizenship, and our shared responsibility to care for one another and our world.
Throughout the weeks leading up to Peace Day, children will explore these ideas through music, art, classroom conversations, stories, and collaborative work, culminating in a joyful all-school celebration on September 18.

Student Performances & Presentations
Children from across our programs will share age-appropriate music, art, poetry, presentations, and other work inspired by peace.
Our youngest children through our Adolescent students will each contribute to the celebration in their own way. The goal is not a perfect performance, but the joyful celebration of children’s voices, confidence, creativity, and connection.

Peace Day doesn’t have to end when we leave campus!
Following our school celebration, MSIMS families and friends are invited to head to Junkyard Social in Boulder for an informal community gathering and FUNdraiser.
Children can play, adults can relax and connect, and families can purchase food and drinks while spending the afternoon together.

Junkyard Social will contribute 50% back to Mountain Shadows from our community gathering.

Back to School Picnic at Niwot Children’s Park
Let’s kick off the new school year together with a warm, wonderful day at the beautiful Niwot Children's Park! Join us August 15th from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM to soak up the last of the summer sun and celebrate the start of another amazing year at MSIMS.
Whether you are a returning family excited to catch up with old friends, or a new family ready to make your first connections in our community, this is the perfect chance to celebrate the year ahead. Pack your favorite picnic blanket, bring along some delicious snacks, and let the kids burn off that end-of-summer energy on the playground while we all enjoy the fresh air.
