Beyond the Classroom

Our "Going Out" program is an integral part of our curriculum, allowing students to take the lead in planning and executing educational excursions. With a focus on experiential learning, our students embark on a variety of child-led trips, exploring local farms, libraries, craft stores, ponds, hiking trails, and even the vibrant campus of CU Boulder. These hands-on adventures not only deepen their understanding of the world around them but also foster a sense of independence, curiosity, and a love for exploration. Through these experiences, our students cultivate a rich and meaningful connection to their community and the diverse environments beyond our school walls.

Outdoor learning is an essential part of our holistic educational approach. With our expansive campus as a natural extension of our classrooms, students actively participate in horticultural activities, cultivating a deep appreciation for nature and sustainable living. In line with this commitment, we have proudly partnered with 63rd Street Farm to establish a dedicated farm plot right on our campus. This exciting collaboration will not only introduce our students to the wonders of agriculture but also provide opportunities to engage with farm animals and participate in a comprehensive sustainability program, fostering a profound understanding of environmental stewardship and the interconnectedness of all living things.

We believe in the power of immersive learning experiences. In Lower Elementary, our students embark on exciting trips to various camps across Colorado, delving into nature, fostering teamwork, and learning from experienced forest guides. As they progress to Upper Elementary, our students expand their horizons even further, journeying on longer excursions within Colorado and venturing out of state to destinations such as Washington DC, Catalina Island, and occasionally even internationally for specialized studies or impactful service projects. These transformative trips not only deepen their academic understanding but also instill a profound sense of cultural appreciation, global awareness, and a lifelong love for exploration.
