Maddie Stephens (She/They)

Marketing Administrator & Primary Aftercare Lead

Serving Mountain Shadows since 2022

Maddie was born in Arkansas and settled in Colorado after high school to be closer to her family. She's currently working toward a B.A. in Computer Science, with a special interest in the ways technology can be used to support education in a way that is aligned with children’s developmental needs. They've spent eight years in early childhood education, starting in conventional preschools before they discovered Montessori and found their home at Mountain Shadows.

As a neurodivergent educator, Maddie is passionate about cultivating positive experiences for children in the classroom and supporting them as they navigate learning in their own way and at their own pace. One of the things that she loves most about being a part of Mountain Shadows is the way Montessori creates a classroom culture where even the youngest children feel supported, secure, and confident enough in their abilities to practice independence.

Outside of the classroom, she can usually be found unwinding with a video game or working on a project. They enjoy dabbling in different hobbies, from prop-building to digital illustration (and many, many more). She loves going to concerts, exploring thrift shops, and visiting trails with her husky, Tokko.

Receive the children in reverence; educate them in love; let them go forth in freedom.
