Julia Ogden

Adolescent Spanish Guide

Julia Ogden is native to Boulder. She graduated from CU Boulder in 2007 with a double major in Spanish and History. Inspired by the words of Cicero, written above the main entrance of Norlin Library, "Who knows only his own generation remains always a child," Julia pursued her passion for Spanish and History through doctorate in Latin American History at UT Austin (2015). She then taught at the university level (first at Front Range Community College and then at CU-Boulder) for a decade and published in peer-reviewed journals, before deciding to explore her passions outside of academia.

This is her first year teaching Spanish to adolescents and she loves to help students see connections in and between languages. Given her past life (and still inspired by Cicero), she infuses her Spanish classes with the history of Spain and Latin America. When not busy molding young minds, Julia loves learning, talking about interesting things, hiking and trail running, reading books, and cooking.
