Garth Mramor
Adolescent Guide & Elementary Coordinator
Garth brings more than a decade of experience in education, with a passion for helping children and adolescents develop independence, curiosity, confidence, and a sense of purpose. He holds Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) diplomas for both Elementary (ages 6–12) and Adolescent (ages 12–18) education, along with a Master of Education from Loyola University Maryland and a Master of Liberal Arts from St. John's College. He is also trained in the Orton-Gillingham approach to literacy and is currently completing a Master of Arts in Writing at Johns Hopkins University.
Garth earned his undergraduate degree in French and Comparative Literature from Binghamton University in New York, following two years of undergraduate study in Colorado. His background includes serving as an Elementary Lead Guide, Adolescent Guide, and Assistant Head of School, as well as helping establish new Montessori adolescent programs.
Throughout his career, Garth has brought learning beyond the classroom through outdoor education, camping expeditions, student-led excursions, gardening, Montessori Model United Nations, creative expression, and meaningful community projects. He especially values opportunities for students to take ownership of their learning and connect academic studies with real-world experiences.
At Mountain Shadows, Garth divides his time between supporting our Elementary program and guiding students at our Farmstead Adolescent campus. In Elementary, he collaborates with our teaching team on classroom instruction, curriculum development, student projects, parent education, family engagement, and community outreach. He also helps strengthen the connection between our Elementary and Adolescent programs, supporting families as children progress through their Montessori education.
Garth's greatest passion is working directly with students, particularly adolescents, as they discover their interests, develop meaningful relationships, and find their place in the wider world. He is especially enthusiastic about the opportunities for purposeful work, creativity, and experiential learning that our Farmstead program provides.
Outside of school, Garth enjoys mountain biking and exploring Colorado's outdoors. Having previously lived in Boulder during his undergraduate years, he is excited to return to a state he has always enjoyed. Garth also has a service dog, Nausika, who will accompany him at the Farmstead campus. Families may occasionally see Nausika with him around Mountain Shadows as well.
