Elementary
II ProgramStudents in the
Elementary II Program further grow in their awareness of society
and in their learning abilities through the in-depth exploration of
practical challenges and skills. Designed for students in
fourth, fifth and sixth grades, students are encouraged to
utilize their creativity and intellect to gain understanding of
our society. Building upon the Elementary I Program
concept of "cosmic" education, Elementary II students are
encouraged to gain further understanding of course subjects
through the real-world application of the teacher's lessons.
Throughout the day students meet with the teachers, from which
follow-up exploration and practice is completed by the student. Students are provided with the resources and support necessary
to complete scientific experiments, compose structured and
creative written works, and explore historical and cultural
influences upon society. The rigorous Elementary II
program provides a balanced education, covering the
core subjects of mathematics, science, literacy and social
studies. Additionally, students are provided opportunities
for enrichment in foreign languages, fine arts, music, physical
education and computer technology.
Beyond the academic and extra-curricular studies of each
student, the Elementary II Program provides a safe, enriching
environment that fosters continual learning and growth outside
of the classroom. Within the program, student development
thrives under the guidance and support of a gifted and
enthusiastic faculty. Beyond academic instruction,
teachers construct a positive community by developing each
student as an honest, trustworthy, compassionate individual.
In addition, while the Elementary II program is ungraded,
teachers maintain a system of checks and balances to ensure
students receive a well-rounded education, stay on track, and
work towards autonomy.
