School Closure Policy

Mountain Shadows will be closed due to weather if BOTH St. Vrain and Boulder Valley School Districts are closed.  If only one of the area school districts closes, we will make every effort to remain open.

In the event that Mountain Shadows does close due to weather, we will contact KUSA Channel 9 TV, KOA 850 AM radio and Cancellations.com.   When the weather is bad, but school is open, parents must make a family decision regarding attendance or late arrival for their children.  Please pick up your children early, arrive late, or keep children at home as conditions in your area dictate.

Other conditions that may prevent the school from operating include, but are not limited to, lack of water, electricity, or telephone lines (which monitor the school's fire alarm).  While school closings are rare, if the school is closed for any reason, no refunds will be given for educational or childcare programs.

It is recommended that working parents have pre-arranged childcare available to them in case the school is closed.  Arrangements with a friend, neighbor, work, a neighborhood teenager or another childcare center should be available to parents.  Also, it is very important that parents make these arrangements before the event, since the weather in Colorado is unpredictable and it is possible for a severe storm to hit without citizens being prepared for it before hand.
